Electives

At Archway we believe that providing students with a variety of academic and creative experiences allows students to develop a broad range of skills, try new things, and even discover hidden talents. At the Lower Campus, teachers provide choice time during which students may decide to read a story, write a poem, or play a math game with a classmate. When working on a project, students are given the choice of the manner of their presentation. Some students will choose to present orally while others may choose a diorama or written report. Whatever they choose, at Archway they begin to practice independence and develop responsibility from very early on.

The Upper Campus offers choice through a variety of elective offerings each semester that are offered in addition to core enrichment classes (Art, Spanish, Drama). Archway teachers as well as outside instructors combine to present a wide choice of electives that appeal to adolescents. Classes range from pottery to Chinese cooking, from cross-country running to ultimate frisbee, from poetry to modern dance. Each quarter students can choose from a different selection of electives.
